ST. JOSEPH PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES (approved)

April 26, 2018

  1. Opening Prayer: Father Moser
  2. Present: Father Moser, Pat Mauss, Dan Colsch, Pat Zoll, Sheila Mooney and Ray Whalen.
  3. Minutes read and approved by Dan Colsch, second by Pat Mauss.
  4. Reports
    1. FINANCIAL REPORT: Currant check book balance is $3,341.50 .
    2. BUILDING & GROUNDS: Discussed asphalting parking lot and necessary sidewalk repairs.
    3. FAITH FORMATION: Father discussed the Faith Formation teacher appreciation dinner.
    4. FINANCE: Dan Colsch and Father Moser to work on 2018-2019 budget.
    5. LITURGY: Upcoming First Communion.
    6. ROSARY SOCIETY: First Communion and Graduates breakfast.

       5. OLD BUSINESS:

  • The Parish Festival was discussed by the Rosary Society and Pastoral Council about changes including a menu change with pork only and carry-outs to be made up in regular serving line. Pat Zoll will draw up a survey as to the parish’s preference of the future Parish Festivals.
  • Elections will be held on May 19th and 20th.
  1. NEW BUSINESS:
  • A joint Pastoral Council meeting is scheduled on April 30th at Immaculate Conception (Lansing).
  • A thank you note was received from Catholic Charities for the recent donations from the Act of Kindness Collection.
  1. Next meeting will be Monday, June 11, 2018 at 7:00pm.
  2. Closing Prayer: Hail Mary led by Father Moser.

ST. JOSEPH PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES (unapproved)

January 29, 2018

Opening Prayer: Father Moser

Present: Father Moser, Pat Mauss, Dan Colsch, Steve Boland, and Bonnie Weymiller. Rosary Society attendees were Shelia Mooney, Tammy Mauss, Pat Zoll, and Gail Whalen.

Meeting called to order at 7:00pm.

Minutes read and approved by Bonnie Weymiller, second by Dan Colsch.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Check book balance is $6,897.51.

BUILDING & GROUNDS: The basement hole from the Religious Education basement is filled in. We need to send a Thank You to Larry Donahue for filling in the basement of the Religious Education center. Keeping the sidewalk and parking lot cleared of snow. Keeping an eye on the carpet on the west steps.

ROSARY SOCIETY: They had a meeting to discuss:

  • About having a Soup Supper in December every year.
  • Having a Christmas cookie and candy sale.
  • Hot breakfast will be every 4th Sunday of each month starting in March.
  • Putting pedestal sinks in bathrooms in the church basement for handicap accessibility and might need to widen the doors.
  • Fall Festival having no silent auction, it is getting hard to find help, and maybe changing the time the festival is held to spring.
  • This year’s festival will be held August 26, 2018.

FAITH FORMATION:

  • Had the Advent program in December.
  • Worked with the Foresters to feed the hungry.
  • April 29 is First Communion at St. Joseph.

FINANCE: Approved the financial statement earlier.

LITURGY: Meet on January 30 at 3:00pm.

PARISH LIFE: In this new year, we will have a new focus on moving from maintenance to mission and be more active. Each pastoral council member will contact two families to check up on them and how the parish can help them.

SOCIAL JUSTICE: Talking about list for Act of Kindness.

STEWARDSHIP: They meet the first Friday of the month.

PASTORAL COMMENTS: Wants the locks on the east door checked on, it will not unlock with a key externally. Also, waterproof the box for bulletins.

OLD BUSINESS: Approaches into parking lot black topped.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Talk to Lee Moore about steps to the Church.
  • Check with Weiser Concrete about replacement of the steps at the rear of the Church.
  • Change the number of missalettes, possibly move them to the back of the Church.

Next meeting will be Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 7:00pm.

Joint Pastoral meeting will be Monday, February 26, 2018 in Wexford.

November 13, 2017                                      

  1. Opening Prayer By: Father Moser
  2. Present: Father Moser, Pat Mauss, Dan Colsch, Steve Boland, Bonnie Weymiller, and Pat Zoll.
  3. Meeting called to order at 7:00pm.
  4. Minutes read and approved by: Dan Colsch, Second by: Bonnie Weymiller.
  5. Financial Report: Checking balance is approximately $3,750.
  6. Building and Grounds:
  • Door replaced on the back of the church with the old garage door of the religious education center.
  • Larry Donahue will be hauling away old concrete and fill in the basement.
  1. Faith Formation: Meeting November 14, 2017. NCYC retreat is November 16 – 19.
  2. Finance: Approved Financial Report.
  3. Liturgy: Meet Tuesday afternoon November 7, 2017.
  • All Saints Day
  • Talked about the Year of Prayer.
  1. Parish Life: 
    • Concerned about the spiritual growth of youth.
    • Attendance at Mass is down.
  1. Rosary Society:
  • Purchased new toilets and installed new hand rails for basement of the church.
  • Soup supper is December 9, 2017.
  1. Social Justice:
  • Collecting items for food shelf.
  • Inputs on Act of Kindness.
  1. Stewardship:
  • Marcella Hale will represent St. Joseph’s Parish.
  • Insert in bulletin.
  1. Pastoral Comments:
  • Give online set up called: “We Share”.
  • Keep homebound and sick in your prayers.
  1. Old Business:
  • Approaches into parking lot black topped.
  1. New Business:
  • Father Moser said, “Bob Becker (Belva’s son) wants to make a memorial in memory of his mother. Possibilities are: new reconciliation room, carpet removal on steps of church, update sign in front of the church, or maybe a small garden and landscaping.”

  3. Meeting called to order at 7:00pm.

  5. Financial Report: Went over monthly income and expenses.
  6. Building and Grounds: Work on landscaping.
  7. Faith Formation: Meeting Tuesday night (9-12-17).
  8. Liturgy: Meeting 3:00pm in Wexford (9-12-17).

    • Sell more tickets
    • Better advertising
    • Well organized
    • Bucket for small raffles
  1. Rosary Society:
  • Talked about different fund-raising event.
  • Discussed Parish Festival.
  1. Social Justice:
  • Work on insert for Sunday, September 17th
  • Meeting on the first Friday of each month.
  1. Pastoral Comments:
  • Plan to purchase 1800-gallon LP at $1.10 for heating from Welch LP.
  • Camp Winnebago closing.
  • Outdoor Mass on Sunday, September 17th at 10:00am at New Albin Sports Complex.
  1. Old Business:
  • Seal coat is done on parking lot.
  • Might postpone black top until spring.
  • Possible contract for sale of house.
  1. New Business:
  • Winter schedule
  • Sealed bids.
  • Father Moser: steel lamp in office, $15.00.
  • Rose Zoll: 3 wooden child chairs on porch, $2.00 each; 8 FT. tables, $5.00 each.
  • Steve Boland: record players, chairs, and Mary statue.
